This Bhel Puri Recipe Mumbai-Style is made with a combination of puffed rice, bhujia, fresh vegetables, seasonings, and spicy and savoury chutneys, creating an explosion of flavours and textures in each bite. How to Make Mumbai-Style Bhel Puri:

Making the Pudina Chutney:

  1. Take a blender jar and add all the ingredients for the pudina chutney, i.e., pudina leaves, coriander leaves, ginger powder, lemon powder, green chillies, salt, and water.
  2. Blend it to a dip-like consistency. Transfer the green pudina chutney to a bowl and keep it aside.

Making the Garlic Chutney:

  1. In the blender jar, add the Garlic Powder, Tamarind Powder, Lemon Powder, green chillies, salt, and water.
  2. Blend to a thick and smooth consistency. Transfer the garlic chutney to a bowl and set aside.

Assembling the Bombay Bhel Puri: 

  1. Take a large mixing bowl. Add puffed rice, bhujia (or sev), crushed papdi, red onion powder, and chopped potatoes.
  2. Pour the Khatti Meethi Chutney.
  3. Drizzle ½ cup Pudina Chutney and 2 tsp Garlic Chutney over the bhel.
  4. Add the lemon powder, black salt, and chopped coriander.
  5. Mix everything quickly till nicely combined.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl and top it with chopped coriander, papad, and bhujia.

Your Mumbai Bhel Puri is ready to be enjoyed! Serve immediately!

Tips and Variations for Bombay Style Bhel Recipe:

Keep all the ingredients and chutneys ready before you start assembling the bhel puri.

Mix everything right before serving. Consume immediately, or it will become soggy and clumpy.

You can adjust the quantity of chutneys based on your preference.

The puffed rice should be crispy. Dry roast it on a pan for a few minutes on low heat if it is not crispy.

You can mix roasted peanuts, green peas, chickpeas, or boondi in your Bombay-style bhel for added crunch.

  • Jain Bhel Puri: Skip the potatoes, ginger powder, garlic powder, and onion powder from the recipe. Use alternatives like red chilli powder, tomatoes, and cucumbers.
